to those of you who have been *anxiously* awaiting an update of the miller/king goings-on, i apologize! my computer has been broken most of the month which is where all of my pictures are stored. i actually had a small breakdown myself when the computer first decided to be obstinate and moved all of my pictures (and everything else on the PC) to a remote folder so i thought it had all been lost! you will be happy to know that the files have been recovered and are safely backed up to an external hard drive to prevent further crises. unfortunately, until i can have one of my computer-savvy friends/relatives look at the computer, i will probably be unable to post very many pictures to the blog. the good news, someone is supposed to be able to look at the computer this week to determine what needs to be done to fix it (or replace it). in the mean time we have been taking plently of pictures of lexi and all of the trouble she likes to get herself into. matt and i are both looking forward to lexi beginning her obedience classes on august 5th, which is also the day i switch to a night schedule at work (yay!).
for those who are curious, my job in the ER at medical city dallas is going very well and i will be done with my internship at the beginning of september. lexi won't stop growing and is more than double the size she was when we brought her home. she had her first vet appointment and everything checked out for our healthy little girl. matt is working at karen dillard's college prep 3-5 days/week depending on the facility's needs and is researching/working on his dissertation when he's not busy with the college prep stuff or playing with the (very active!) pup. wedding plans are coming along slowly but surely and we are VERY excited about the aproaching date. i did finally get my wedding dress, but won't be posting pictures because matt doesn't want to see me in the dress before the wedding and i think it will be more impressive to see it in person than in pictures.
other than that, there's not much to report. i'll try to post some pictures as soon as i possibly can!

our little lexi
our little girl has already gotten bigger! and, she got her first bath on sunday, which she protested. we made it through, though, and between the two of us, lexi was washed, dried and brushed before bedtime. the pictures included are of playtime, bathtime, sleeptime under the kitchen table, and cuddle time after work
(as a nurse, yay!). soon we will start training classes so lexi will be even more well-behaved, although she seems to have proven herself somewhat trustworthy. today when i got home from work, lexi was out of her crate and waiting for me at the top of the stairs. i have no idea what time matt last let her out, but nothing was out of place or chewed up and there were no accidents (that i've found yet)! hopefully this behavior will continue as she gets older as well!

our newest member
meet lexi, she is our newest family member. we adopted her on father's day (june 17th) and she has become a wonderful addition to our family. we picked her out a few weeks ago when she was still too young to take home. my two nephews, alex and ben, came with us. alex picked her out for us right away, which is why we decided to name her lexi. she is a labrador retriever and is about 7 weeks old. the pictures included are of our first meeting with our little one; her brothers and sisters being transported by wheelbarrow; her first adventures in the backyard; my niece olivia loving on lexi; and matt playing with lexi.

back in texas, life as usual
after being on vacation for two weeks, it was time to come back to texas and get back to the "real world" which meant wedding plans, matt teaching and researching his dissertation, and me studying for nclex (my board exam for nursing licensure). i don't have any pictures of my last day at work as a transporter at medical center of plano, but i have included a few pictures of the wedding site for those of you who are interested. the wedding and reception will be held at heritage ranch (heritageranchgolf.com) and the pictures included show the ceremony and reception areas. the first picture is of the patio overlooking the golf course (both of which we get to use), the next two pictures are of the ceremony area (it will be emptied out and have rows of chairs for guests) which is then converted into the buffet area as shown above. the last two pictures are of the ballroom where the reception will be held.

another vacation...ole!
two short days after returning from a cool (literally!) vacation in ohio, we left with my family for a trip to mexico. we stayed in the cancun/playa del carmen area at the grand xcaret resort (which turned out not to be so grand). we stayed for 6 days, had a great time and got to see and learn all sorts of exciting things. i've only included a few pictures, for those of you who would like to see more i hope to have an album done by the end of the summer (depending on how much time wedding planning and a new internship take up!). the pictures from top to bottom: matt and me on the plane, us in front of the pyramid at chichen itza, a picture of all of us at dinner, matt and i being festive, and matt, me and my brother-in-law ray enjoying the all-you-can-drink part of the resort. and the one thing i learned in mexico i will never forget: texas is NOT that humid!
