easter 2008

easter 2008

we celebrated easter this year at my parents' house with my immediate family, their kiddos, and ray's parents. we had turkey and dressing with all the "fixin's" and then enjoyed watching the kids hunt easter eggs in my parents' back yard. needless to say, i was a little exhausted after having worked a full shift the night before, and not having slept during the day. regardless, we had a great time and enjoyed the tasty food, wonderful family and easter fun!

more computer problems

once again our PC had failed us. for the whole month of march our monitor had been on the fritz, with only 1/2 the screen working at times and at others not working at all. with the help (once again) of our brother-in-law ray, we have installed a new video card that seems to have fixed the problem (for now). hopefully our PC will at least hold out until matt gets hired somewhere as a full-time professor...until then we'll continue to keep our fingers crossed for our poor over-worked computer. in the following posts (which i have taken the liberty of back-dating for chronological sake), i will try to update you on our lives for the last month :) enjoy!

lexi's life

a day in the life of lexi:
-sleep at the foot of the bed until mom gets home from work
-help mom wake dad up
-eat breakfast with mom & dad
-lay outside and chew on my rawhide bone, bark at the neighbors if necessary
-help dad pack his lunch, then say goodbye to him for the day
-lay on the tile floor while mom takes a shower/gets ready for bed
-chew on one of my toys
-sleep at the foot of the bed until dad calls to wake mom up
-chew on a noisy chew toy to make sure mom's awake
-lay around the house until it's time for a walk
-chew on a chew toy
-eat dinner with mom and dad
-beg to go outside, then back in, repeatedly until mom and dad finish their dinner
-lay around the house until i feel it necessary to get a big drink of water and slobber all over everything/everyone (wait until they dry my face, and repeat as many times as possible)
-go upstairs with dad (maybe mom, too, if she's not working) to go to sleep at the foot of the bed, while they get to sleep IN it
oh, and on sundays i get to go to puppy class and see evelyn, my trainer, who helps mom and dad teach me how to be a "well-behaved young lady" as mommy says.

yes, lexi's life is very hard. she reminds us of this frequently with her big mopey eyes and pathetic doggie sighs of exasperation. she is nearly done with her second set of obedience classes now, only a few more before she graduates! she has learned many new tricks and behaviors that will be VERY helpful around the house. the other new thing lexi got to try recently was doggie daycamp at petsmart. she spent the whole day running and playing with other dogs while matt and i got the house ready for my birthday party. needless to say, by the time we picked her up she was a worn-out little pup! she was perfect for the party, she didn't have any energy to act up! her are a few pics of her doing what she does best...chewing on things, looking pathetic, and playing at daycamp.

birthday #23

i keep telling the people at work that i'm "all grown up now" or "a real adult": i'm married, have a house, a dog, a new car and i just turned 23! i celebrated on my actual birthday, the 15th, by doing (what else?) what i always do on saturday nights - work. sunday afternoon i celebrated with my family, though, including my favorite dessert, grilled burgers, presents and lots of fun. the next friday (good friday) matt and i had a little birthday party for me at our house as a way to show off our new grill (thanks guys!!! you know who you are!). we had people come from my work, matt's work and a few of my friends from nursing school and high school, too. it was a blast! matt probably did the best job putting me into a festive mood by letting me open a birthday gift every day between the 13th - 16th, so it was like every day was my birthday! thanks to everyone who made it so special!
and no, i don't feel any older...yet ;)

snow in texas!!!

the pics are here
for a couple days this week we were actually blessed with SNOW! my family and myself (and other native texans) are, of course, always thrilled on the rare occasion this happens. my husband was less amused, being from ohio, and tending to worry about adult things like being able to get to work and such. *sigh* the things we take for granted ;)
lexi enjoyed the snow a bit, having never been exposed to much of it before, but quickly realized that it gets pretty cold playing in that white stuff after a while. she mostly tried to eat it, which isn't surprising considering her love of ice-eating anyway.
my ohio in-laws, i'm sure, will be tickled to death to see more pictures of nothing but snow (i.e. no people).

around the house

our (mostly) well-trained little girl is continuing to bring us joy and be a wonderful part of the family. although sometimes she isn't perfect and requires a lot of energy from us...we love her. here are some pics of her playing with her daddy so you can see just how big she's gotten :)
