lexi post-op

we are glad to report the surgery was a success with no complications! lexi spent the first day at the vet's office, where they insist on keeping the pet overnight. i picked her up the next day after i woke up (i had worked the previous night) and brought her home. we have to restrict her activity for seven days to keep her from re-opening the surgical site and her stitches get to come out on the 25th. she is doing fine and shows no signs of someone who just had major abdominal surgery, in fact, i sometimes have to remind her dad that she's not allowed to play like she normally does, even though she has just as much energy as ever!
the pictures of her outside are from the morning i took her to the vet (notice the look of concern). the two pictures with the orange tile floor are of later that day when we decided to go visit our little girl after her surgery. the last picture is of lexi the next day resting peacefully at home after nearly two days at the vet's office.

lexi update

because of the wedding and everything else, i haven't been able to post much about our very important little family member. she has adjusted to the changes (i.e. dad moving in) and everything else going on around here with no problems, whatsoever. in fact, she rather enjoys having both of us here to play with her all the time (because of course that's what we're here for!) and the fact that if one of us is gone, the other is probably home with her. no more lonely nights in the crate for this pup! we are also happy to report that her training lessons seem to have paid off nicely as she can sit, stay, lay, shake, spin, take and drop things as we command (oh, the power!) the only time she has a hard time listening to commands is when there is a distraction nearby (i.e. new person, dog, new surroundings, etc.). for this very reason we have decided to enroll her in a second, intermediate puppy class with her previous instructor that will teach her how to take commands from a distance and pay attention even when there is a distraction. her new classes will start on february 17th and run for 8 weeks.
the other big news for our grown-up little pup (who turned 8 mos. on 1/2/08) is that as i write this she is being prepped for surgery to get fixed. no little lexis...sorry guys! we meant to have this done before the wedding, but of course didn't have time to adequately care for a post-op doggie and prepare for the wedding! we will pick her up tomorrow morning and, in the meantime, are praying that all goes well and there are no complications. we appreciate your thoughts and prayers for our 4-legged little girl :)

hawaiian honeymoon

i finally got time to sort through, edit and post the honeymoon pictures to a shutterfly album for your viewing pleasure. sorry it took so long, the last few weeks have been a whirlwind with the wedding, christmas, work, new year's, the reception in ohio and the new semester starting for matt. i tried to keep the album kindof short so people wouldn't get bored, but it's still 160 pictures. make sure you click on "view as slideshow" so you can read the captions. enjoy!

ohio reception

to see the pictures, click here
here are the pictures from our reception in ohio on january 5th. we flew out on the 1st and came back on the 6th since matt and i both had to be at work on the 7th. the trip there was a long one: 4 different flights and three different planes! because the weather was so bad that day up north, our first flight was delayed. our next two planes had "mechanical problems" (and we sat on those planes for an hour to an hour and a half before they determined we wouldn't be flying) and by the time we finally got to take off, our luggage had actually beat us to ohio by about an hour -- after making a stop in chicago! the rest of the trip went smoothly, and we had a great time. i got to enjoy some REAL snow, that matt's family said they special ordered for me ;), and we got to spend time with our family. my parent's made the trip up, too, so they could be there for the reception. lucky for my parents, their flight to ohio was much less complicated. in addition to the reception, the family also threw matt and i another wedding shower, coordinated a "beer and pizza" night when my parents arrived in town, and took everyone out to dinner at olive garden the night before the reception. the whole week was wonderful and we are very thankful to have such a loving and supportive family. we are so blessed to have such supportive, loving parents and a wonderful "new" family. thank you so much to everyone in ohio who made our stay so great!
ps-the slideshow link is a new kind of web album that i think is easier to use. let me know if you have a preference!
