april birthdays

my sister, sarah & her husband, ray, both celebrate their birthdays in april on the 14th and 25th, respectively. this year, we had a party for both of them on the 26th to celebrate both of them turning 30. we had great food (homemade tamales, rice, beans, fruit, etc.) and yummy desserts (see pics!) and then showered them with birthday gifts...okay, so maybe not "showered" but they got to open some presents :)

kandice & nick's engagement dinner

a friend of mine from nursing school is marrying her sweetheart in june of next year. her parents decided to throw them an engagement dinner complete with photo slideshow, catered tex-mex, yummy desserts, good music and a tent with lights, tables/tablecloths/centerpieces in their very nice backyard! it was lots of fun and gave me the chance to catch up with friends from nursing school. the food was VERY tasty and the weather was great aside from some very STRONG winds. the only bad part was that i actually had to go into work that night after it was all over :(
congrats, kandice & nick! you two make such a great couple!!!

brandy's birthday

my co-worker brandy had so much fun when we went to pete's piano bar for my birthday in march, that she decided we should go there again for her birthday on april 25th. so we did! several people from work showed up and enjoyed the singing, dancing and the, quite possibly, inappropriate dancing/touching that occurs when alcohol and music are involved. we had a great time and a few of us even went to ihop afterwards! happy birthday, brandy!

our little girl hasn't had very many posts lately, largely because we've settled into a routine and there's not typically much new news to report. but i thought i'd post some recent pics of her after i decided to give her a bath the other day. labs, in general, aren't supposed to be bathed. most trainers and experts will tell you that labs only need regular brushing and a "bath" with just water if the dog gets into something messy (i.e. mud, etc.). however, i decided that our sweet little girl needed a soap bath because she was just too smelly! so, much to her chagrin, she got one. the pics above are the final result. she did quite well, actually, and really enjoyed getting to lay on the hardwood floor once it was all over.

matt and i celebrated easter with my extended family this year by making the trip to the waco/hewitt area with all of my immediate family. we went to the 0845 service at church, then loaded up into my sisters's family-size vehicles and drove the 2 hours to meet up with my mom's family for lunch and an easter egg hunt for the kiddos. even though the day started out rainy, we had sunshine and warm weather by the time the kids were ready to hunt for eggs. the proctor family and matt & i were even able to take advantage of a nearby bluebonnet field for a photo-op, but jonah was a little cranky without his nap....so it didn't go quite as planned. all-in-all, we had a great time and enjoyed the chance to visit with the family. happy easter, everyone! and God bless!

an interview

for those who don't know, i'm interviewing for a supervisor position at my job. the first interview was on april 8th, and i am currently waiting to hear back to see if i "qualify" for a second interview. i will let you know what happens, of course, but in the meantime, here's a pic of me all dressed up before i met with my interviewers. not the best pic ever, but i was going to be late if i didn't hurry! and if i look taller than normal, it's because those shoes have about a 5" heel on them! eek! :) oh, and please ignore the messy bedroom...matt said we didn't have time to move to a room with a more appropriate background.
