honors induction

matt and i had the pleasure of attending the history honors society induction ceremony on sunday (4/27/08). matt actually had a part in the ceremony, since he is an officer, and after the induction of the new members we went to dinner at a local italian restaurant. we had lots of fun, and enjoyed hanging out with some of matt's work buddies and talking about all things academic (okay, there was some nursing talk, too).

on sunday we celebrated sarah and ray's birthdays with the whole family. since they are married, and both have april birthdays, they have to share a party. the pictures that follow are the result! we had lots of fun and celebrated with a fairly unconventional birthday meal at the miller's house: popeye's chicken. of course, there were plenty of other tasty things to eat, like dips and pigs in a blanket, cheesy potatoes and fruit pizza! yum! happy birthday ray & sarah!

here are some pics of what we do at work to stay sane. the other night we had "waffle night" where everyone brought in some ingredients or a waffle iron and we could make fresh waffles right in the breakroom (a *very* attractive option during a 12 hour shift at about 3am)! these pics are actually of our very first "dip night" where everyone brought in a different kind of dip, some of the favs: taco dip, cucumber dip, corn dip, ranch dip, and my very own pineapple dip (don't knock it until you try it -- just ask matt!). the lovely pics that follow are of some of my coworkers being goofy in our moments of spare time in the ER.

lexi's graduation

here are the pics from lexi's last intermediate class and graduation. she finished the classes on april 13th and, right now, we have no plans to put her through any more training classes (only to refine what she's already learned). and for those who are curious, since the beginning of class she's gained nearly 10 lbs! we weighed her that day and found that she had grown to a whopping 84 lbs (she was about 76 when we started the classes 9 weeks ago)! for those who are curious, her 1st birthday is may 2nd, and she has requested only cash and checks made out to her parents (what a generous girl!). oh, and yes, we are those people who put our dog in a hat and take pics of her...

here are some pics of life around our house when we aren't busy working. okay, so they are actually all of our little lexi, because she tends to be one of the more exciting attractions at our casa. besides, who wants to see pictures of us playing with our favorite blankey or laying on the floor?
