on the way home from work on the 24th, i learned from the radio that IHOP was celebrating "national pancake day" and they were giving out free short-stacks to everyone between 0700 and 2200 (er...that's 7am and 10pm). i quickly tried to call up anyone i could think of to go meet me for some pancakes...but alas, no one was available and matt was already in rockwall prepping his class for that morning. even my mom and my sisters were busy! i was pretty distraut, because what fun are free pancakes if you can't enjoy them *with* someone? but my mom came through, after she figured out a way to bring along my sister, sarah's kiddos, that she was babysitting that morning. and so, the 4 of us headed to IHOP to get some free breakfast. liv and jonah were *adorable* in their pj's eating pancakes and fruit, with liv constantly asking for "more syrup, please!" and jonah flashing his toothy grin at all the nearby tables. the pancakes were free, but there was a place where you could make donations to the children's hospital, so my mom did. liv was really excited about this and kept asking if she could get her name in the window (on a donation card). we told her that she could, and she was very excited about writing her name on it. the IHOP employees were impressed with her penmenship, as was liv...as you can see in the pics. yay for free pancakes and family time!

dallas auto show
on the 19th, my dad and i made time to go to the dallas auto show. i love going to the auto shows and looking at all the new cars and playing with all the new features. for any of you who know my husband, you know that he isn't nearly as into this as i am...hence my dad agreeing to take me while matt stayed home and worked. we had lots of fun, and even picked out a few cars we'd enjoy owning (practical cars, family cars, just-for-fun cars), in addition to talking about how overpriced some vehicles were, while others had "atrocious" gas mileage. here a few pics of the little lexus rx SUV i really like...maybe i'll try to replace matt's car with one when we get ready to have kiddos....? dad said i looked good in it :)

nancy's baby shower
with only five weeks left to go, my friend nancy was the guest of honor at a baby shower for her & her expected little bundle of joy: brendan ray (due march 21). our friend kandice did an awesome job hosting the shower in her new apartment and made sure we were all well fed, entertained and had a great time with nancy. congrats again, nancy and clancy. we'll see you soon, brendan!

babysitting the proctor kiddos
twice this past week i had the opportunity to watch the kiddos for the proctors, once on monday and again on friday. here are a few of the pics from our time together. liv *really* enjoyed making play-doh "sugar cookies" including using the cutters, putting them on a "baking sheet" placing them in the oven, timing them, removing them and then "frosting" them. She even took time to explain to me that "we can eat these yet, they're raw" before "baking" them, and "we have to let these cool before we frost them." jonah had a great time smashing them up and pretending to eat them, in between playing outside with bailey, of course.

the boat show
it's not a boat show without some corona!
my parents had some tickets to the dallas boat show and invitied matt & i along. at first we were reluctant to go, since we both had so much to do, but we, of course, had a really great time. how could you not, when you are wondering around 38 - 50 foot yachts? unfortunately, i forgot my camera, so i only have the two pics my mom sent me from her blackberry. at least they convey how much fun we were having :)

superbowl sunday!
as usual, my family got together for a superbowl party on february 1, to watch the cardinals take on the steelers. our favorite part is usually getting to watch the commercials and eating all the tasty foods we make, but it was consensus that even though the cowboys didn't play, the game was pretty good! we also got to enjoy the 3D commercials, since my mom was kind enough to make sure we all had the 3D glasses. thanks, mom!

pajama party
pajama party |
in lieu of our usual bookclub, my group of TWU alumni gals decided to get together for a pajama party/game night on january 30. we had pizza and other assorted "junk food," watched girly movies (including dirty dancing and mamma mia!) and played some board games. we had lots of fun, as you can see in the pics posted above!
