snow days!

hey texas....did you know that i

the first snow we have seen in a while fell last tuesday, and i was so excited that i drove home and walked around in it for a solid 15-20 minutes documenting through photographs all the lovely ohio snow. i'm sure this seems silly to native ohioans, but for a native texan, and her snow-deprived family in texas...snow is still really exciting! also, i had promised to post pictures of some good ohio snow for my nieces and nephews, since they are growing up in the same snow-deprived state i did (although this year the dallas area has seen considerably more snow than i can ever remember). so i walked around the apartment complex, stomping through fresh snow, taking pictures. i did take time to make my very first snow angel....yay! i'm sure this was odd to anyone who happened to be awake and watching this girl in her mid-twenties in scrubs and a jacket making a snow angel at 7am....yes, i'm a crazy texan enjoying the snow! little did i know that in another few days i would see more snow than ever...
by the middle of the week, we started hearing weather reports that columbus would be under a "winter weather warning" from friday morning until 6pm on saturday. on friday morning i left after my 6pm-6am shift at MCE and headed to OSU for my pre-employment drug screen and physical. by the time i left, the snow had already started to fall. i called matt and told him to head home right after his class (that ended around 1pm) because the roads were supposed to get pretty bad, pretty quick. i came home to workout, clean the apartment and settle in for a night of snow. by the time matt got home, there were already several inches of snow on the ground...and it just kept snowing! we watched it snow from 8am until 6am the next day. the result was a fantabulous winter wonderland and the best 2 snow days i've ever had. at one point i actually told matt, "this is the kind of snow day i always dreamed of as a little girl!" what makes a good snow day?
1) neither of us had to work or be anywhere friday night or all day saturday
2) we had plenty of food in the house...no need to brave the weather for a trip to the store
3) i had a new crock-pot recipe to try out...it was perfect cold weather food, and i made home-made cornbread with it (a first for me!)
4) home-made chocolate chip cookies
5) home-made hot chocolate
6) plenty of movies to watch
7) a comfy couch, warm blankets, comfy clothes, and a snuggly lab at our feet
8) leaving the blinds open so we could watch the snow fall...all night!
9) a nice day on saturday to make my very first, real snowman! (or snow-midget, as it turned out to be)

here are some pics from our snow days...if you want something to compare them to, see the pics from when we moved in.

I like how your handwriting looks the same even when you write in snow!
