samantha is now awake more during the day and seems to be taking more interest in her surroundings. she now gazes at toys or high contrast objects for long stretches of time, and has moved into the phase of being very interested in our faces. and while she doesn't seem to notice her big brother too much, she doesn't seem to mind his constant affection for her -- hugs, kisses, pats on the back or bottom, "sharing" of toys (usually cars), and identification of body parts. that last one is especially cute because he will touch her nose and say "nose, nose" then show us her eyes, ears, hair, toes, etc. she doesn't seem to mind, and noah seems tickled pink that this little person has body parts for him to identify.
most of sammy's days are spent eating or sleeping, but when she is awake she still enjoys being snuggled up in someone's arms, but is also starting to spend some time on her tummy. while this usually results in fussiness and frustration, for the first few moments she does pretty well and always amazes me with her head and neck strength. and i always feel like i'm so old when i look at her lift her head and think "not too long and she'll be crawling!" spoken like someone who's already had a child, right? ;)
it does go by so fast, though. to see how much noah has changed in a year and a half, and to see how quickly we have already reached a month and a half with sammy just makes this realization so much more apparent.
